Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day happens on a different day every year to mark the start of the Christian festival of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is the beginning of the 40 days leading into Easter, this year this falls on 16 February 2021. Lent is traditionally a time of fasting and sacrifice, and often Christian children give things up - such as chocolate. Traditionally a time of fasting, Shrove Tuesday was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the fast, and pancakes are the perfect way of Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day happens on a different day every year to mark the start of the Christian festival of Lent.
