We had a very exciting addition to Coworth Flexlands in 2020 – Poppy our School Dog. Poppy is a hypoallergenic Cavapoo and she has lived with Miss Cowell since she was 11 weeks old. Poppy is incredibly cuddly and very good with the children. Poppy has been a positive addition to our Coworth family and she brings happiness and promotes wellbeing to our staff and pupils who just love having her around. The response has been overwhelmingly positive.
The main reason for introducing a school dog is the beneficial impact that they can have on the wellbeing of both pupils and staff. Scientific research has shown that spending time with an animal decreases anxiety and worry, and promotes a good mood, supporting positive mental health. Poppy has certainly done that here at Coworth Flexlands!
