Sport is an integral part of life at Coworth Flexlands, where every child is encouraged to discover joy in movement and develop confidence through physical activity. From Nursery onwards, pupils experience a rich variety of sports through PE, dance, games, and an extensive extra-curricular programme.
We focus on building key physical skills - agility, balance, and coordination - through fun, active learning. As pupils progress, they develop sport-specific skills and take part in competitive fixtures against other schools in sports such as Football, Hockey, Netball and Swimming. All children are taught by our specialist sports staff, supported by external coaches, and sport is embedded in the timetable to enhance focus and wellbeing across the curriculum.
Our facilities include dedicated football pitches, hard courts for netball and tennis, a well-equipped sports hall, and access to a local swimming pool. From Year 3, we track fitness progress annually, helping pupils set and work towards personal goals while developing lifelong healthy habits.
At the heart of our sports programme is a commitment to sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork. Pupils are encouraged to compete with integrity, celebrate the success of others, and learn from both victory and defeat. Regular inter-house events, Sports Day bring the whole school community together to celebrate effort, resilience, and fair play, values that extend far beyond the playing field.
Children also have the opportunity to discover new passions through after school clubs in Basketball, Tennis, Dance, Netball (with award winning Cardinals Club) and Football.
Whether they dream of competitive sport or simply love to stay active, every pupil at Coworth Flexlands is supported to thrive. Our approach fosters resilience, collaboration, and a lasting love of sport - ensuring they leave us well-prepared and enthusiastic for the next stage of their sporting journey.
