Academic Life
Learning came to life through a range of curriculum-linked experiences, including Reception's visit to Bocketts Farm, Year 4's trip to the Shah Jahan Mosque, Year 1's exploration of Wellington Country Park and Year 2's day at West Wittering Beach. Year 6 also took part in our Inspiring Minds programme, gaining valuable insight into careers in law through an engaging workshop and whole prep assembly with a practising barrister.
Year 4's Rooted in Nature project, inspired by King Charles III's Harmony, saw pupils develop their understanding of sustainability through gardening, growing produce and participating in the Royal Windsor Flower Show. Throughout the term, children demonstrated creativity, independence and a genuine love of learning.
Alongside these enriching opportunities, pupils continued to develop the skills from our Learning Skills Compass, demonstrating independence, communication, collaboration, reflection and critical thinking as they applied their learning in new and meaningful contexts.
Ethos, Wellbeing and Leadership
Our school values were evident throughout the term as pupils demonstrated kindness, resilience, confidence, and leadership. Residential trips to Hooke Court and PGL provided opportunities for children to challenge themselves, build independence and strengthen friendships.
Year 5 pupils participated in the Big Help Out, organising activities for younger children at Valley End, they also welcomed a nutritionist, who enhanced pupils' understanding of healthy lifestyles and nutrition through an engaging and informative workshop.
Year 6 visited Dormy House Care Home to share songs, stories and games with residents. These experiences allowed pupils to develop empathy, communication skills and a strong sense of community responsibility.
We were also delighted to see two Year 4 pupils take on the role of Headmistress for the Day, demonstrating excellent leadership while supporting activities across the school.
Co-Curricular and Enrichment
The performing arts continued to thrive at Coworth Flexlands. Pupils showcased their talents in Performing Arts and Music assemblies, with impressive LAMDA performances, musical theatre presentations and instrumental recitals.
A particular highlight was Year 6’s visit to Farnborough Hill’s professional recording studio, where they recorded a selection of songs learned throughout the year.
Reception pupils also enjoyed a Teddy Bears' Picnic, providing a valuable opportunity to develop their communication, social and early literacy skills through shared stories and collaborative activities.
Beyond the classroom, pupils enjoyed a wide variety of enrichment opportunities, including lacrosse workshops, gardening projects, leadership activities, creative performances, and our annual Colour Run!
Sport
Sport has been a major highlight of the Summer Term, with pupils representing the school across a range of cricket, football and athletics competitions. Teams demonstrated excellent teamwork determination, and sportsmanship throughout the season.
We were especially proud of the pupils who helped Berks County Girls Football Club secure the Berkshire County Girls League Trophy, as well as the many successful cricket fixtures played across different age groups.
Sports Day was a fantastic celebration of participation and house spirit, with pupils competing enthusiastically and supporting one another throughout the day.
Community and Charity
Our pupils continued to make a positive contribution to the wider community. We proudly took part in the Chobham Carnival, receiving a Highly Commended award for our Tiddler-themed parade, while also raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Our Pink and Red Dress-Up Day was another tremendous success, helping Miss Pardo to raise over £3,000 for her trek with CoppaFeel. Throughout the term, pupils demonstrated a strong commitment to helping others and supporting charitable causes.
Looking Back
As the academic year draws to a close, we take great pride in reflecting on the progress made by every pupil. Through high expectations, perseverance, and a commitment to learning, children have developed their knowledge, skills and understanding across the curriculum, achieving outcomes that reflect their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
We are especially proud of our Year 6 leavers, whose academic successes, personal growth and contributions to school life have been exemplary. Their achievements reflect both their dedication and the enthusiasm with which they have embraced every opportunity during their time at Coworth Flexlands - we wish you luck for the future!
