Spring Term Highlights

The Spring Term at Coworth Flexlands has been full of energy, achievement and celebration. From strong classroom learning and enriching trips to exciting sporting successes and community events, pupils across the school have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and confidence. We are incredibly proud of the way our children have represented themselves and the school, supported by our dedicated staff and wonderful parent community.

Spring Term Highlights

Academic Life

Pupils benefited from a strong focus on core skills, including phonics, spelling and reading for pleasure, supported by whole‑school Read Write Inc training for staff. This was further celebrated on World Book Day, when teachers across the school shared and read books specially chosen by the pupils.

Learning was enriched through visits to places such as Windsor Castle, Kew Gardens, Milestones Museum and the Watts Gallery, alongside inspiring in‑school experiences including marine science talks, financial literacy sessions and a range of creative curriculum projects.

Pupils consistently demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity and pride in their learning.

Ethos & Wellbeing

Ethos and wellbeing were central to school life throughout the Spring Term, supported by clear routines that promoted a calm, purposeful and happy environment. The Nurturing Spirit focus shaped assemblies, events and opportunities for pupil voice, ensuring pupils felt listened to and supported.

Survey feedback reflected this strong culture, with 100% of all Prep pupils reporting that they are expected to work hard and that they feel proud of their school. Warm, inclusive assemblies celebrating families, creativity and diversity further reinforced the school’s values of kindness, respect and inclusion.

Co‑Curricular & Enrichment

Pupils from Nursery to Year 6 showcased their talents in performing arts, music and class assemblies, and the Year 3 & 4 production of Snow White, as well as confident LAMDA performances. Beyond the school, pupils represented Coworth Flexlands with pride at events including the United Learning Story Slam, the Primary Leadership Social Project at Oxford University and the VIAM concert.

Community & Events

The Spring Term was marked by a strong sense of community, with pupils, parents and staff coming together for a wide range of events. Highlights included the Spring Ball, which raised money for the school, Movie Night and Charity Pyjama Day raising money for our School charity this year, MacMillan Cancer Support. Our Pre-school Community Easter event and Year 2 Fun Day.

Sporting Life

Inter‑House football matches across all year groups were played in an enjoyable and respectful spirit, with high standards of skill and teamwork, and Emerald crowned overall winners! Swimming also proved a highlight, with Year 4 and Year 5 teams achieving impressive second‑place finishes at an external gala and pupils competing confidently in relay events and Inter‑House competitions. Netball fixtures provided valuable competitive experience for teams, who represented the school with positivity, resilience and strong sporting attitudes throughout.

Senior School Preparation & Destinations

The school celebrated another year of excellent senior school outcomes, with all Year 6 pupils successful in gaining places at a wide range of highly regarded schools. Offers included academic, drama, dance and art awards, reflecting both pupils’ individual strengths and the school’s strong preparation programme. The Year 6 cohort were outstanding role models throughout the term, demonstrating maturity, perseverance and positivity.

ISI Inspection

During the Spring Term, the school welcomed a team of inspectors from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). Inspectors commented positively on the warm welcome they received from all members of the school community and were impressed by pupils’ confidence, conduct and pride in their school. Pupils spoke articulately about their learning and school life, particularly in the older year groups.
