Thirteen Acres

what's in this section?

Coworth Flexlands School is set in thirteen acres of beautiful grounds which are used extensively throughout the year.

13 Acres of Stunning Grounds

Our grounds offer a wealth of educational opportunity, in addition to the areas set aside for sports.  Many lessons may be taken outside to enhance learning, either in the grounds or in the outdoor classroom. Whether it be a Maths lesson finding out how tall the average playground tree is, an English lesson writing poetry or rehearsing drama, studying habitats in science, sketching a wild flower, or the simple pleasure of picking ripe blackberries for lunch, being outdoors adds a different perspective and improves the pupils’ sense of well-being.

The close proximity of our football pitches, athletics field and tennis courts allows us to interweave our varied sports programme between other subjects in each class’s timetable. We believe that this enhances learning as interludes of physical exercise help to improve focus in lessons where intense concentration is required.

House and Eco Captains oversee the planting and growing in the House allotments and discuss with the chef what may be incorporated into lunches.

Our pupils may also enjoy the quiet and tranquillity found in many little nooks and crannies, such as the Peace Garden, a reading bench under the shade of a tree, or one of the Wendy Houses. Many take full advantage of the freedom that a large playground offers, with space to run or climb and swing on the apparatus.

Our parents and carers appreciate the luxury of the large entrance that offers plenty of easy parking and a safe and calm area to drop off and pick up their children at the beginning and end of each school day.
