Coworth Flexlands Social Committee

what's in this section?

The primary objective of the parents' Social Committee is to generate funds to purchase a range of items, for the added-value of the pupils, in a way that also enhances the feeling of the school and local community. At these events Coworth Flexlands benefits from a high level of participation and generosity by parents and staff, and as a result, raises considerable funds.

Bi-Annual Summer Ball & Summer FAYRe

The bi-annual Summer Ball, alternated with the bi-annual Summer Fayre, are the main fundraising events organised and managed by our parents. The Summer Ball is held off-site and is followed by the school picnic, which is hosted in the school grounds, with fun attractions - a very English gathering and very different atmosphere to the Summer Fayre. The Summer Fayre is held in the school grounds and buildings with lots of activities, challenges, the traditional tombola and a variety of stalls from which to purchase goodies. While quite different in style to the summer picnic, both summer events are a lovely, happy, celebratory end to the academic year.

Christmas Fun

The Christmas Bazaar is the main winter fundraising event. The school becomes a hive of activity with something for everyone, including face painting, sand art, the mandatory cake stall, science fun, outside sports challenges, etc.  There are lots of stalls from which to purchase a wide variety of gifts, and even a 'secrets room' where children may buy gifts for their parents.  The choir and instrumentalists all have an opportunity to perform to parents. The day is a very festive occasion and much talked about at the parents' Christmas dinner - an evening event for parents held outside of the school.

Charity Support

Coworth Flexlands offers pupils the chance to hold charity fundraising events throughout the year, for which there is always much enthusiasm. While this is very much a decision made between the pupils and the Head, Mrs Anne Sweeney, the children's parents and the Social Committee are always there to help.

We hope you enjoy the gallery of photos that offer a taste of these events.
