Girls move into the Preparatory School at the beginning of Year 3 (September after their 7th birthday). This is usually from our Pre-Prep Department, although children join us throughout the school year from a variety of schools.

In the Classroom, we continue to adapt our learning programmes to meet our pupils' needs as we encourage creative thinking and learning, providing a challenge and sense of satisfaction for all children.

In Years 3 and 4 your daughter will spend most of her day with her class teacher, providing the continuity needed at this age. ICT, French, Music, Art, DT and Games are taught by subject specialists and full subject teaching is introduced in Years 5 and 6.

Good study habits are nurtured through regular homework which is given to reinforce work covered in lessons. Class work is differentiated in Mathematics & Literacy, involving team teaching with specialist teachers.

In the Prep School we aim to build on the good practice & achievements of our own Pre-Prep Department. We pride ourselves in preparing our pupils thoroughly for the next stage in their education, giving them the skills & confidence with which to succeed.

All girls in Year 6 are given a position of responsibility, such as House Captain,Games Captain, Librarian or Prefect.

Parents are given advice & support as they make the important decision of choosing the right senior school for their daughter. We retain strong links with local senior schools as well as those farther away.
