Mathematics

Protractor

The Interactive workshops were very different. A really interesting, creative way of learning maths. The tasks highlighted teamwork. Great fun!

The Mathematics curriculum aims to develop attitudes and skills in pupils which will support, foster and promote mathematical thinking and achieve a secure foundation in numeracy and other mathematical knowledge in order to meet real life situations.

Compass

We believe that Mathematics should be fun and our aims are:

Times Table
  • All children enjoy the subject and study it with confidence.
  • Pupils are encouraged to achieve high standards of numeracy and a range of other mathematical skills. They are taught how to apply these skills to problem solving.
  • Children are supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential, whatever their ability.
  • Whatever their levels of mathematical competence, pupils are able to approach their examinations for entry into Senior Schools in a positive, confident and enthusiastic manner.

Good teaching gives children the life chances they deserve. A variety of teaching methods is used, including whole class teaching, group work and individual work, to meet the differentiated needs of pupils. Regular pupil assessment provides reliable data, to enable staff to assist and advise parents accurately about future choices in education.

We encourage mathematical communication with local Senior Schools e.g.

Royal School Challenge – Royal School, Godalming
Puzzle Day – St George’s School, Ascot
Gifted and Talented Numeracy Day – Brigidine School, Windsor

We enjoy using ‘World of Maths’, an interactive workshop for Years 1–6. Each year our pupils have been complimented on their behaviour and their ability to apply mathematical knowledge to the various activities.
