Geography

As a school we aim to stimulate pupil curiosity, interest & enjoyment in Geography & sustain a lasting awareness of the environment & world as a whole.

Children find out about their own locality & people and places beyond their immediate experience. They study a range of topics, including settlements, water, rivers, mountains, rainforests, coasts, mapwork & have the opportunity to investigate contrasting localities in Britain & overseas.

The lessons are taught in a variety of ways to suit the age & maturity of the pupils. This includes factual knowledge conveyed by the teacher as well as investigative & field work. Classroom lessons are supported by visits to different places of interest & in Years 5 & 6 the girls embark on a week's residential visit to Yorkshire or Devon where they can study & experience different environments first hand.
A variety of resources are used including CD ROMs, DVDs & the Internet.
