Enabling children to communicate effectively and to achieve their individual potential in all aspects of English nurtures a life-long enthusiasm for the English language. Our focus across all age groups is on developing skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Starting in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) pupils use Big Cat Phonics software as a first step towards reading and the Nessy Learning Program enables all children to read, write and spell with confidence. The school places great emphasis on securing sound language skills and developing a love of literature. Individual expression is important and discussion and creative writing form an integral part of English lessons as well as across the curriculum. Reading is closely monitored, with recommended Reading Lists provided. The school enjoys a well-stocked,modern library which is supplemented by additional mini-libraries in all classrooms.

Recent outings have included the popular Shakespeare 4 Kidz and a fascinating visit to the Globe Theatre.
