Dance cont...
All pupils from Nursery to Year 6 receive specialist tuition in Dance, with a dedicated 30 minute lesson each week. Children are taught a variety of dances and have the opportunity to create their own movement phrases. Various themes are used and many different props including ribbons, torches, scarves and fans.
Styles of dance include show, jazz, contemporary and street dance. A popular
Salsa Club is run by our Latin-American Modern Foreign Languages teacher.
Child initiated dance activities in the early years include dancing
in the role-play area, with the children often dressing up to dance
and using the musical instruments and circle games.
We have participated in the Woking Creative Dance Festival and were judged
to be one of the best performances.

"
As a fully qualified tap, ballet, modern, national, disco and ballroom
teacher, I know the important impact of dance. Regardless of age or ability,
the discipline, decorum and musicality that are enhanced by different
types of dance are so beneficial to all areas
of a
child's life.
The sevice I provide is a structured and interesting series of lessons in tap, ballet or jazz. The tap is ISTD, the ballet is RAD and the jazz is freestyle. Each year the children are entered into RAD Ballet exams, perform at open mornings and prize givings and parents are also encouraged to view our progress at the end of each term".
